Luca, Jira, and Chloe have barely begun their studies at Cogniel Academy of Dracologywhen they and their fellow traince vets are called upon to help with an emergency. A train carrying both human and non-human passengers has derailed, and the young trainees must triage dozens of wounded fire dragons-any of which could explode at any moment. But when Luca discovers one dragon using its massive frame to shield a little girl, she faces a difficult question: What do you do when the rules say human lives come first. but your heart says every life counts?
